The PC-Z1 NetWalker by Japanese electronics manufacturer Sharp is a mini-netbook with a 5" touchscreen (1024x600px) display that runs Ubuntu 9.04 or more precisely Ubuntu Smartbook Remix.

In August last year Sharp introduced a new device it referred to as an ultra-compact netbook. It was named the NetWalker, and went to market in September. Several months later and Sharp has decided to update its NetWalker range with an even smaller device.

Here's the latest Ubuntu powered ultra compact netbook with a 5” WSVGA (1024x600) touchscreen, the NetWalker aka PC-Z1-W. This little baby is powereb by a i.MX515 Freescale CPU @ 800MHz, with 512MB of RAM, 4GB of internal memory, Wi-Fi b/g witth a 68 key QWERTY keyboard, supports up to 16GB microSDHC cards and available with a 10hr battery lifespan.

Dutch integrator Van Der Led (VDL) Designs has announced a clone of the Asus Eee PC ultra-mini PC (UMPC) notebook. The WiFi-enabled "Jisus" UMPC is equipped with a Chinese-made 1GHz Loongson CPU, has an 8.9-inch display, and runs Ubuntu Linux.

Somewhere between the smart phone and netbook markets, Canonical hopes to stir demand for Ubuntu on so-called Mobile Internet Devices (MIDs). Sharp seems to share that vision and is launching the PC-Z1 Mobile Internet Tool running Ubuntu 9.04. Here are some quick details.

Glacier Computer has announced a wearable computer that runs Linux and includes built-in WiFi along with GPS and Bluetooth options. The wrist-mounted "Ridgeline W200" has a 3.5-inch touchscreen display, backlit keys, a hot-swappable battery pack, and an electronic compass.
