The X Protocol is the method of showing a graphical application.

USB devices are quite common these days. I’ve digital cam, Pen drive, external hard disk, mouse and other stuff. So how do I tell what hardware is connected via USB to my Linux desktop?

lshw-gtk is a graphical user interface for lshw. It can display very detailed information for your computer's hardware configuration: processor, memory, graphics cards, devices connected to USB ports and so on.

Today I visited PC World (London, UK) because my 5-month-old laptop has developed a manufacturing fault: the hinge to the display has started to crack the plastic casing. Anyone in the know will know that this is due to the joint inside, and it means that in time the screen will separate from the keyboard.
