Martin-Éric Racine has just announced the release candidate of the X.Org Geode 2.11.9 driver in preparations for the X.Org 7.6 Katamari. The AMD Geode driver is not to be confused with the AMD/ATI Radeon drivers for Linux, but rather this is the driver Geode GX and Geode LX embedded SoC such as what's used by the One-Laptop Per Child (OLPC) project.

X Server 1.4.1 was originally scheduled to be released on the first of November as a bug-fix release for X Server 1.4.0, which was released in conjunction with X.Org 7.3. However, a delay had pushed the planned X Server 1.4.1 release to November 11. When that date had come X Server 1.4.1 was far from being ready.

For the past couple of weeks I’ve been working with Jon McCann, Jeremy Perry, and Owen Taylor on developing a usability testing plan for GNOME Shell. It’s a work-in-progress, and I wanted to make a quick posting about the effort and where it’s going.

Adam Jackson has just announced the release of the much anticipated X Server 1.5.0. This is the key component that will make up X.Org 7.4, which we expect to see released (hopefully) this week during the X Developer Summit. The X Server 1.5.0 release announcement can be read on the mailing list, while we'll have a full run-down on X.Org 7.4 as soon as it's released.

If all goes according to plan, X.Org 7.4 will finally be released this month. This release isn't quite as elaborate as X.Org 7.3, which introduced input hot-plugging, EXA enhancements, and RandR 1.2 to just name a few features, but X.Org 7.4 is another update better enhancing this X server.

Keith Packard has announced the official release of X.Org Server 1.9 this evening. Besides this release offering up various bug-fixes and minor improvements, this X Server release is noteworthy as it happens to be the first release in recent times to actually make it out on time. X.Org Server 1.9 hit its original release schedule of being released on the 20th of August.

Keith Packard has just made available the first release candidate of X Server 1.8 and confirms that its release schedule is still on track. Snapshots and the Git code for X Server 1.8 go back to last year, but with a planned release by the end of March, Keith has now started working on release candidates.

The other day the beta 2 disks were released to the testers team. Thanks to the wonderful feedback by the testers for beta 1, we were able to get a lot of things fixed. Fabio is back from his vacation and so it took him a bit to get through all the emails. There is still a few known issues and will hopefully get addressed in 5.0 RC1.

There's twelve days left until the release of X Server 1.7 and X.Org 7.5! Wait, there still is not even an X Server 1.7 Beta, which should have happened last month, so chances are slim to none on seeing a final release this month. The release schedule for X Server 1.7 / X.Org 7.5 has already slipped a few times, after it was supposed to be released back in April.
