Adam Williamson has made available a repository containing a full set of packages to install the driver for Intel Poulsbo (GMA500) graphics chipsets (found in the Dell Mini 12, Sony Vaio P and other systems) on Fedora 11 (i586 only, not working for x86_64).

Last week we released Phoronix Test Suite 1.0 and one of the article requests we received as a result was to do a side-by-side comparison between the popular desktop Linux distributions. Ask and you shall receive. Today we have up 28 test results from Ubuntu 8.04, Fedora 9, and Mandriva 2008.1.

Last week we took the eagle's eye view of the principles behind SELinux. Today we'll dig a bit more deeply into SELinux policies, and then fire up Fedora 8 and see what SELinux looks like in practice. I recommend using the latest Fedora version as a SELinux training tool, because Fedora has the most mature implementation and userspace tools. Red Hat Enterprise Linux and CentOS, the leading Red Hat clone, have similar SELinux setups to Fedora. Gentoo also has a nice SELinux implementation. I don't recommend starting from scratch. Start with a working setup, and then plan to spend considerable time learning your way around it, because it is a big complex beast.

After searching for half an hour I got the commands to start/stop gdm/Xorg in Fedora 13. I am new to Fedora. I am using Debian & Ubuntu in my pc as the primary distros for long time. Now I've started to get familiarize with Fedora :)

The Fedora Project offered a peek under its kimono recently with details about Fedora 7 adoption and other statistics. Fedora 7 has snagged more than 300,000 users since its release at the end of May. While that sounds pretty good, Fedora Core 6 managed to attract more than 400,000 in roughly the same amount of time after its release.

Fedora 10 has been gaining new users at impressive rates. This past week alone Fedora 10 has picked up over 100,000 more.

Fedora 10, codenamed "Cambridge" is just around the corner. This upcoming version of Fedora will be released this November 25, so I'm pretty much excited about it already.
