Over the weekend I did an update on my Elive Compiz powered main PC. I didn’t realize it at the time but the update was actually an upgrade (I ran the update via Syanptic not apt-get - otherwise I would have known) and I wound up running the unstable version.

Believe or not Sony playstation is not supporting Linux anymore, as announced on the Playstation blog, they droped the support for Linux based operating systems, by removing the "Other OS" option from XMB (XrossMediaBar) in its PlayStation 3 gaming console. I finally experienced my first "phantom" update notification in Ubuntu 9.04. In previous versions of the system, a little icon on the upper panel would notify me that updates were available. I could either click the icon and open the Update Manager, then do the update. But in this new system (I've been running 9.04 about a week), the icon is gone.
