The difference between Free software
The difference between Free software and non-Free software as it applies to the user is that the user is not subjugated upon the vendor of that program. This means that the user can remain independent to the original vendor to get an improvement developed for that program. With non-Free software, the user first needs the vendor's permission and blessing before improvements can be made. With free software, the user has the liberty to go pay any software developer to develop improvements to software; in this case to fix a security bug.
