On March 10th, Mandriva announced the immediate availability of Mandriva Linux 2009.1 RC1. Though a bit late, we thought it would be nice to please some of our readers and offer them a visual tour of this first release candidate.

Mandriva has gained huge reputation for delivering easy to use Linux distro with support for many multimedia and proprietary format. Earlier when Mandriva was known as Mandrake, it was the most popular GNU/Linux but some unavoidable circumstances turns the table towards Mandriva and after that Mandriva didn't stood up like it used to..

Mandriva announced last night the immediate availability of Mandriva Linux 2009.1 RC2. Once again, we thought it would be nice to offer a visual tour of this second release candidate of the upcoming Mandriva 2009 Spring.

The Mandriva developers have released a second edition of their Mandriva Linux One (MLO) 2009.1 LiveCD. It includes all of the available security and maintenance updates up to the 10th of July

On Friday May 30th, we were invited to Mandriva’s 10th anniversary celebration at the Eiffel Tower. This French company, which specializes in producing Linux distributions, was born in 1998. Previously named Mandrake (the famous ‘magician’), it changed its name after the takeover of Conectiva in 2006.

The Mandriva Linux 2009 Spring range is now available in the office format which corresponds to your choice, KDE, GNOME or LXDE and all this in more than 70 languages. You will find following version: Free edition (100% open source software) in 2 DVDs for 32 and 64 architecture, One edition (installable live CD, available in KDE and GNOME versions). All Mandriva Linux isos are hybrid one.

Thanks to the Mandriva Xfce volunteer development team, a community Xfce One edition of Mandriva Linux 2009 is now available for download from all official Mandriva mirrors. A list of download locations can be found on the Wiki page. This release gives you all the benefits of Mandriva Linux 2009 along with a fast and stable Xfce desktop.

Mandriva 2009.1 was released earlier last month and I finally got round to testing it. Mandriva has always been a good distro in my eyes, being easy to use, quick and with plenty of eye-candy.

I installed Mandriva 2009 with the new KDE 4.1 desktop by default and was impressed with the over all feel. Compared to older versions of Mandriva, Mandriva 2009 seemed quicker and snappier and gave me a clean feel while browsing. I enjoyed the theme, background and panel tones much more in this latest release of Mandriva.
