Can computers learn? That's a deep question worthy of any philosopher's time, but we're not philosophers: we're coders, right? So, rather than try to prove or disprove what exactly a computer is capable of, we're going to pass away an idle hour or two producing a little game that actually does make computers learn - or at least gives the impression!

Great free FPS game. It has in game level editor. Single player and multiplayer game play is available. Nice action and graphics.

A long time ago, back when i was still a common windows user, i was very serious in online gaming. In particularly a game called Star Wars Jedi Academy. Now I have long since switched to linux, which of course will not run the game natively. But just recently i wanted to get back on and play the game, and i had nothing better to do. I decided to try the first and most obvious thing, wine.

Kris Occhipinti is currently in the middle of creating a 2D game created using the Blender 3D game engine. The game, called Pissed Off Penguins, looks similar to the popular “Angry Birds” game most of you have likely heard about. I wanted to outline this open-source project and expose some of the unique techniques Kris is using to both fund this project and create the game itself.

A little while back, Michael Meeks published a lengthy piece about copyright assignment (not nearly as lengthy as the articles he links to on untangling Wittgenstein's net). Copyright assignment can be ethical, and can unify a project under common ownership, or it can be misused to impose control and bypass the GPL, indemnify the code against patent infringement, and subvert the developers' intent in contributing to an 'open source' project.

Gaming shares many roots with open source, and many games coders would see themselves in a similar light to free software coders – as creative hackers exploring the cutting edge of computing. A game may not have any useful function other than the game itself, but computers are only as good as the last game you played.

Best racing game ever runs on linux!

Disclaimer: I'm not a racing game fan, in general I don't like racing games at all. So if I say something is the best racing game ever, it's not based on the usual things most racing fans would think make up the best racing game.
