According to this press release, Marvell is announcing the $99 Moby Tablet for Education. You've seen my video of Marvell's 4.3? Tablet prototype shown at CES based on the Marvell Armada 600 processor. The Moby tablet is based on the same Armada 600 platform but comes with a larger screen (probably 10?).

Marvell has announced four processor families -- Armada 100, Armada 500, Armada 600, and Armada 1000 -- based on ARM cores. Touted as "a top to bottom solution for mobile computing and intelligent devices," the SoCs offer single or dual cores with clock speeds from 400MHz to 1.2GHz, the company says.

Marvell announced its intent to deliver a $100, Android-ready tablet computer built around a 1GHz Armada 600 series processor. Aimed at students, the "Moby" will offer WiFi, Bluetooth, GPS, an FM receiver, and Adobe Flash compatibility, the company says.

As I was wandering past Marvell’s exhibit at CES this weekend, I spotted an incredibly tiny PC called the EBOX connected to a big screen LCD.

Marvell announced today a new type of computer. It's about the size of an AC to DC converting wall outlet plug, but is really a full SoC with a 1200 MHz CPU, built-in 512 MB Flash, 512 MB DRAM, Gigabit Ethernet and USB 2.0 support. It runs small versions of Linux, consumes about 5 watts.

Google has confirmed that its upcoming lightweight, browser-centric Chrome OS operating system will include a built-in media player. In an interview with ArsTechnica, Matthew Papakipos, the engineering director for the Chrome OS project, says that the developers are currently working on "integrating a whole media player into Chrome and into Chrome OS".

What to make to this? Marvell, has stepped up their commitment to an XO-3 with $5.6 million dollar grant to One Laptop per Child for XO-3 laptop development through 2011.

NVIDIA is temporarily suspending its chipset and CPU business until it settles matters with rival Intel. Its GeForce 9400M and ION brands will not be effected.

HTC and Google in apparent alliance to launch Chrome-based tablet later this year. More details are emerging of a Chrome-based tablet PC expected to be launched by Google before Christmas. The tablet PC is expected to run Google's Chrome operating system and will be manufactured by HTC.
