Google has announced the availability of a new tool called GoogleCL that will allow users to interact with the company's popular Web services directly from the command line.

GoogleCL is a command line tool to manage all the Google services: you can upload photos to your PicasaWeb albums, post to your Blogger blog, modify Google Calendar events, add contacts, manage your Google Docs (upload, delete, and so on) and even upload videos to YouTube. Unfortunately it doesn't come with support for Gmail.

GoogleCL brings Google services to the command line.

Anyterm allows you to have secure terminal access to a server without needing any special software on a client machine beyond a Web browser. For example, with Anyterm you can open a terminal into your server from an Internet cafe. Because Anyterm uses a pseudo-terminal for communication with the shell, you can run most command-line tools from an Anyterm terminal running inside a Web browser.

If you work on Linux you’ll know that the command line is the way to go (in some cases at least). If you are in GUI mode than you can access the command line via the Terminal. Here are some applications/utilities that will transform your command line experience.

At some point, the people at Google, who brought you the Linux-based Android platform and the Summer of Code, decided that they still were not geeky enough. To resolve that gut feeling, they have released GoogleCL.

The output of most GNU command line tools is normally sent to the terminal (ie – standard output). There are times when you would like to have the output saved as a file. Now, you could copy the text from the terminal and paste it into a text editor and save it, but there’s a better way...

Today’s “Newbie Tip” is learning some basics about the “Command Line Interface” or as it’s mostly referred to, “Command Line”. The command line gives the user the ability to interact with the operating system by typing via a text terminal.
