I don't know if you have ever seen a real penguin parade with real live penguins but they are fun to see. There is hundreds of penguins, smartly dressed up in their tuxedos, marching along. It seems that it is just a wave of black and white forms sweeping past you and it will never stop.

With sights like the old town of San Sebastián and the Guggenheim museum at Bilbao, the Basque country in northern Spain is certainly worth a visit. But the reason that I and FSFE staffer Rainer Kersten spent a week there had nothing to do with old houses, art or pintxos.

The KDE España association is organizing Akademy-es 2010 in collaboration with Itsas (the Free Software group of the University of the Basque Country, UPV/EHU) and the Department of Culture of the Basque Goverment. This event gathers contributors to and users of KDE software and will be held in the Engineering Technical School of Bilbao from the 7th to the 9th of May.

The new version 4.0 of the document "Standards and Architectures for eGovernment Applications" (SAGA) by the German Ministry of the Interior now recommends ODF for text documents. In SAGA 3.0 ODF was listed as "under observation". Nice to see ODF being upgraded by the SAGA expert group!
