The Portuguese Ministry of Education and Science (MEC) has told school boards across the country that it will not be shelling out huge amounts of dosh for Microsoft software this year.
It wants schools to keep their old computers and install free Linux software instead as part of an austerity measure.

Effective austerity
Putting Free Software on all the old computers in Portuguese schools is a pretty effective austerity move.
An even more effective move would be drop-kicking Ballmer's expensive rubbish off all the rest of them!
Portugal might even be able to bail out a few more blood-sucking banksters, then.
