The Bhutan government liked its first taste of Linux so much that it has come back for seconds, releasing an updated version of its Debian-based operating system that it launched last year.

Bhutan has come up with an operating system called the "Dzongkha Debain Linux," an updated version of the Dzongka Linux developed in June 2006. The Dzongkha Debain Linux, which was launched on Aug. 28, according to DIT officials, can be installed in any type of computers or can be used with a live CD.

The government is hoping to launch the first version of a "national operating system" for its computers as early as next year, a senior Communications and Press Ministry official said Thursday.

The creative chaps at Debian Art are looking for a great line for Lenny, the development codename for the next version of Debian GNU/Linux operating system. They are running a open ballot.

The Debian Project is pleased to announce the official release of Debian GNU/Linux version 5.0 (codenamed "Lenny") after 22 months of constant development. Debian GNU/Linux is a free operating system which supports a total of twelve processor architectures and includes the KDE, GNOME, Xfce, and LXDE desktop environments.

The Debian KDE team has not been releasing KDE updates with each monthly incremental version, and so there have been no snapshots between KDE SC 4.3.4 and KDE SC 4.4.3. As of yesterday, however, the Sid repositories began to be populated with KDE SC 4.4.3, and as of today, we now have Sid (and sidux) implementations of KDE SC 4.4.3 available. I am using it now.
