More than 100 candidates to Italian regional elections that will take place at the end of this month officially support Free Software and have committed to actively promote it if elected. Many of them are in smaller parties with smaller probability to get a seat, but for Italy it's a good result anyway.

The fourth Italian Free Software Conference will take place in Cagliari (Sardinia, Italy) on June 11-12th. The main language of the conference is Italian.

The Italian region Puglia will make the use of open source software and open standards mandatory for its public administrations. A law, adopted on 2 December by the regional administration, instructs regional and local public administrations to use open formats for the electronic disseminations of documents, and wherever possible use free and open source software.
