Why?
Why would anyone want to take perfectly good GNU/Linux distro's and make Micro-messes of the desktop?
KDE can easily be made to look like a Micro-disaster - that's why I won't have icons splathered all over the desktop - anything that won't fit into the system-tray at the bottom gets relegated to the Kmenu. Desktop icons always remind me of you know who.

Trying to be Windows
My own opinion on this is that GNU/Linux should not just be trying to imitate Microsoft Windows in every regard, even though there may be some users to whom this is appealing. Copying every detail of the "look and feel" of Windows could also leave some of these distros open to patent violation claims.
Progress occurs by trying to make things better, not just trying to copy what went before.

Pointless Fearmongering
How does adopting the appearance of Microsoft's Windows XP system subject people to a possible patent lawsuit any more than not adopting the appearance? If this was possible, then the ReactOS project would be in greater trouble than these GNU/Linux distributions.

Offensive
To imply that any of these Windows-lookalikes IS Windows (as the title of this article implies) is just downright misleading and offensive. The poster should be slapped with a wet fish.
