PCLinuxOS 2007, also referred to as PCLOS, was released on May 21st, 2007 to rave reviews. Also, PCLOS has gained immense popularity having been the number two distribution over the last 6 months and number one since the release of the 2007 edition just over three weeks ago (according to the DistroWatch rankings). I am one of Linux enthusiast like you people, and have used almost all major Linux distros in past.Currently I triple boot Windows XP/Ubuntu Feisty /PCLinuxOS 2007.I am very impressed with PCLOS 2k7, even more than i was with Ubuntu. So i though why not write something which may help other people….
I used to be an avid PCLOS user. 2007 to 2008 I swore by it. It was THE distro for installing on PC’s. It supported codecs out of the box, worked when Ubuntu would not, and was quicker. I decided to take a look at the newest release of PCLOS this week.
TinyMe is a scaled down version of PCLinuxOS 2007. The latest version is delivered as a 177 MB liveCD and features the Lightweight X11 Desktop Enviroment, Synaptic, and the PCLinuxOS Control Center. It comes with a few applications, so it could be a really light version of PCLOS for older computers or a foundation on which to build your own system as you choose.
In 2007 as one of our first Linux distro reviews, we took a peak at PcLinuxOS 2007 (aka PCLOS) and found it at the time to be a stellar product for it's time, stable, clean, easy to use and enjoyable. Will 2009 still retain it's former glory, or has the new version ended up as a fizzling dud?
I was very excited about this release of PCLOS and have been waiting for it to hit for a while now. PCLinuxOS (PCLOS for short) was my second Linux distro I ever used and I really liked it.
As I write here I’m downloading the beta 3 of PCLinuxOS 2009, which will be my first go at the Ripper gang’s newest version since 2007. Based on that experience, my expectations are high. I guess that’s what happens when you produce quality stuff, Texstar: people start anticipating better and better.
