http://adventuresinopensource.blogspot.com

After my positive experience of Debian it was time to move on and this time I chose Slackware 12 to try out. Its a fairly old computer so I could not try the latest eye candy on it, I am referring to compiz-fusion.

Kubuntu 7.10 in the eyes of a full-time geek

http://fridge.ubuntu.com

I do enjoy the Kubuntu development cycle. Just as I’m starting to feel that my stable, long-configured system is starting to get a little blase, the new version is just around the corner. I eagerly upgraded to Kubuntu Gutsy when it was released on my faithful Vaio TX.

Playing With Themes in Ubuntu 7.10

http://geekybits.blogspot.com

In July I wrote a post which has been quite popular called: Turning Ubuntu's Brown Eyes Blue. This post was about changing themes in Ubuntu, getting away from the orange and brown colours and using mostly blue. Things have changed quite a bit since July and changing themes in the new Ubuntu 7.10 (Gutsy Gibbon) is a little bit different, therefore I thought I would offer some fresh advice.

Why Linux is better than windows for virus outbreaks.

http://blogs.ittoolbox.com

The age old "discussions" that float around the internet in regards to Linux and windows security are contentious ones. It all seems to boil down to Linux people saying that Linux is more secure and windows people saying that it is not. In this case the windows guys are right, with exceptions.

Connect Firefox to TiddlyWiki with TiddlySnip

http://www.linux.com

If you're using TiddlyWiki as your note-taking tool, you ought to give TiddlySnip a try. The idea behind this Firefox extension is simple: it allows you to add the currently viewed Web page or selected text snippet to your TiddlyWiki as a new tiddler. But TiddlySnip adds a few clever twists to this basic idea, which turn the Firefox/TiddlyWiki combo into a powerful and extremely useful tool.
