Development plans for Ubuntu 7.10 (codenamed Gutsy Gibbon) were announced last night on the Ubuntu development mailing list. Scheduled for official release in late October, Gutsy Gibbon will include version 2.6.22 of the Linux kernel, GNOME 2.20, and Xorg 7.3. Kubuntu 7.10 will feature KDE 3.5.7 and offer optional packages for KDE 4.0 RC2.

If everything goes well, Ubuntu 7.10, Gutsy Gibbon, the next community version of the popular Linux distribution, will appear in October. It will not, however, include the latest and greatest X window server and utilities: Xserver 1.4 and X.Org 7.3.

Canonical this month released Ubuntu 7.10, codenamed Gutsy Gibbon. Like the Feisty Fawn release before it, Gutsy is a bleeding-edge distribution with a focus on new features and the newest free software applications. It's a speedy operating system with great new features and only a few minor issues.

Ubuntu Gutsy has just been released after 6 months of development and testing. Although Ubuntu is known to be as user-friendly as possible and this is not a LTS release, Canonical made a lot of progress for this release on the server side too.

Ubuntu is on a roll to create the best Linux distribution targeted at the lay person ever. And a number of user friendly features are expected to be included in the yet to be released Gutsy Gibbon (stable version) which is expected some time in October this year. Many important features and updates made Ubuntu fans all over the world extremely happy and eager to upgrade. People seem to have quite high expectations of Ubuntu 7.10 (Gutsy), and to be honest, I don’t think they’ll be disappointed. Gutsy seems to be shaping up to be the best Ubuntu release ever, and it’s due for release next Thursday (18 October).
