Welcome to part 5, the final article in our little series on the KDE 4.3 System Settings control panel. I first off want to thank the KDE devs for creating such a great desktop environment (DE) and for simplifying the control panel (now known as "System Settings"). The last time I had to do an article series like this, it took me 10 articles and nearly a month to pull it off.

In our original article two years ago, we did a complete overview of the entire KDE 3.5 Control Center, a task that was not small by any stretch of the imagination. This time detailing the new System Settings control panel for KDE4.

Welcome to part four of our look at the KDE 4.3 System Settings panel. In this section we'll tackle the Advanced User Settings under the Advanced tab.

Ubuntu Tweak is a utility created to make it easier for users to configure and change a variety of system settings. You can use it to quickly adjust settings for GNOME Panel, Compiz, and Nautilus, along with some more advanced security settings.

Reseting Gnome Settings

If your gnome-panel corrupt , Application Menu, Places Menu and System Menu and some other menu items will disappear.
How to recover it

Boot the system upto Login Window. Press Ctrl + Alt+F1

Now You will get a Text based login screen

login with your username and password

now you will get a $ prompt.

Kubuntu (and some other KDE-based distributions) features a special System Settings application which takes the place of the full KDE Control Centre application, which is used for setting all sorts of KDE preferences and changing different settings on the system.
