I recently tried the new Sabayon 5.3 LXDE release and found it to be lightweight yet still hold up Sabayon’s feature packed, out-of-the-box way of doing things.

One of the best features introduced in Sabayon 5.3, the latest upgrade to the Gentoo-based, multi-purpose Linux distribution is the installer.

Sabayon Linux 5.3 includes a number of new features and updates over the previous release, including a new installer, official Btrfs file system support and updates to the GNOME and KDE desktop environments

Two years ago I ran into Sabayon Linux for the first time. Version 3.2 was about to be released and I gave Sabayon a spin on my laptop. The article on my Dutch website about my experiences is still attracting a lot of readers, which indicates a consistent and growing interest in this Linux distribution.

The Sabayon 5.2 release features Xorg 7.5, GNOME 2.28, KDE 4.4.1, XBMC 9.11 and much more. Sabayon is know for offering cutting edge features, great application selection and out-of-the-box experience that is unmatched by any. The Sabayon 5.2 release also comes with a uniquely blue theme that I found to be quite attractive, check it out.

Sabayon Linux began life as a binary shortcut to a fully working Gentoo system. Early experiences with RR4 - Sabayon's original name - ranged from "nothing installed" to "data lost." Fortunately, the developers never gave up and today Sabayon is a beautiful, functional, and stable Linux desktop distribution.

Sabayon Linux is a very full featured DVD sized distribution that is really catching on in the Linux community as of late. The most recent release, Sabayon 4.1 Gnome, includes some very impressive features, and applications. I installed Sabayon 4.1 Gnome this morning and found some great stuff, I really have nothing but good things to say about this up and coming Linux distro.

Lately I have been quite busy with many different (usually sabayon-related) things. A main focus is trying to come up with a a nice theme for 5.0. For the mean time however I have created some artwork for the CoreCD, which I have dubbed “Sabayon.Core”.

I’ve used and reviewed the Gentoo-based Sabayon many times before and have been very impressed with the Live CD’s out-of-the-box functionality. I was quite excited to crack open Sabayon Linux 5.1 “Gaming” for obvious reasons.
