This minimalistic operating system is created for advanced users who want to build a customized installation of Sabayon Linux. It can also be used for USB installations!

The CoreCD is a text-based release. There is no X-Server, Gnome, or KDE provided. The Feature list is intentionally short: * Bootable Image suitable for a CD or USB thumb drive (~400M) * Text-Based installer * Basic default networking * Entropy and Portage ready

Lately I have been quite busy with many different (usually sabayon-related) things. A main focus is trying to come up with a a nice theme for 5.0. For the mean time however I have created some artwork for the CoreCD, which I have dubbed “Sabayon.Core”.

Sabayon follows a rolling release development model, which means that once you install a new system, you may never need to re-install – ever.

Sabayon is a multi-purpose, Linux distribution based on Gentoo, with support for binary package installation. Sabayon 6 is the latest stable release and installation images for the E17, GNOME, KDE, LXDE, and Xfce desktop environments have been released.

The KDE edition has already been reviewed. This article is a review of the GNOME edition, using a 32-bit installation image.

Sabayon Linux 5.5 is the latest release of the Gentoo-based Linux distribution. It is also the first Sabayon release this year and judging from this distribution’s release history, we should expect to see at least three more releases before the end of the year.
