A few days ago I reviewed what is in my opinion the easiest Linux distribution for Windows switchers: Linux Mint 7.0 The small group of talented people that manage this distribution is led by Clem, the "founder" of Linux Mint. Today he was kind enough to grant me an email interview as a follow up to my review.

The Mint development team has announced the release of Linux Mint 7 XFCE, a Community Edition code named 'Gloria'. Linux Mint is an Ubuntu-based distribution that aims to be user friendly and provide a more complete out-of-the-box experience by including support for DVD playback, Java, plug-ins and various media CODECs.

Linux Mint represented my return to Linux. It was the first distribution I tried that "just worked", and since that day I have not had Windows installed on any of my personal PCs. I have, however, jumped between a few different Linux distributions, and have recently settled on Fedora 15.

The very latest edition, Linux Mint Debian 201204, was released on April 24. Installation images for 32- and 64-bit platforms for the Xfce and MATE/Cinnamon desktop environments were released. The MATE/Cinnamon edition has already being reviewed. This article is a review of the Xfce edition,

Linux Mint Debian Edition (LMDE) is the branch of Linux Mint that is based on Debian, unlike Linux Mint editions which are based on Ubuntu Desktop. LMDE Xfce is the second Debian-based edition to be released. The first, Linux Mint Debian Edition, is powered by the GNOME desktop environment.

Linux Mint is fast becoming more than just Ubuntu with flair. I've read recently that a growing number of users are actually waiting for the next Mint release rather than adopting the latest and greatest from Ubuntu proper. I can't say I blame them.

This week Linux Mint 9 Xfce was released featuring many of the features we looked at in my Linux Mint 9 KDE review and a few of its own. Linux Mint 9 Xfce includes the Linux Kernel 2.6.32, Xfce 4.6.1, Xorg 7.4 and is based on Ubuntu 10.04.

After the release of Linux Mint 8 back in November, Clement Lefebvre and the developers behind the Linux Mint community announced last evening (December 14th) the immediate availability for download of the 64-bit edition of Linux Mint 8.

Linux Mint 7 Gloria XFCE was just released featuring the Linux 2.6.28 kernel, Xorg 7.4 and XFCE 4.6 desktop. Linux Mint 7 has introduced us to some exciting improvements to mintInstall, mintUpdate, mintWelcome, and mintUpload along with several artwork enhancements.
