This week we look at an unusual distribution from Taiwan called xPUD. At just 51 MB total size, xPUD is almost as small as Damn Small Linux (DSL) was.

xPUD is certainly unique. In fact, there are some excellent ideas that are beginning to take place here. This is a Linux distribution that is built around two things that most people want, a good web browser, Firefox and a media player. Combine that with an unbelievably simple interface and you have an operating system that boots in 10 seconds and is functional from the start.

Nine years ago today, Oct 13th, OpenOffice.org was called into being. It has been a pretty successful 9 years, with OOo having achieved approx 10% market share and even more in certain segments and countries.

This is the second time I've taken gOS for a spin. I have reviewed the distro approx. a year and a half years ago in an article aptly named gOS Linux - a very good OS. Indeed, gOS was a great treat. The current version ups the ante with new delights.
