I’ve mentioned a couple of times that, at least in my opinion, KDE is losing out to GNOME because there simply aren’t as many Qt applications as GTK ones. This is the second in a series of articles comparing different kind of applications.

I’m very, very happy to announce that the KMess team has released KMess version 2.0, after more than an year and an half of development!

As a Linux user I know that I should revel in sparse user interfaces and command line driven applications, but for my day to day communications, I prefer Pidgin over XChat. It's just more pleasant to look at, and goes beyond just IRC chat. The problem with Pidgin and Gnome 3 is that it is hard to tell when someone is trying to get your attention.

KMess is a MSN Messenger client for KDE Users in Linux. It enables Linux users to chat with friends online who are using MSN Messenger in Windows or Mac OS or Linux. The strength of KMess is it’s integration with the KDE desktop environment, focus on MSN Messenger specific features and an easy-to-use interface.

One of the things that Microsoft has been silently beating Linux over the head with for the past couple of years is that, since Linux works so well on older, and lower end PC's, it is an inferior, obsolete, and outdated OS. I find FUD like this to be a bit annoying, as the inverse is true of Windows.
