Twidge is a command-line, full-functional Twitter and identi.ca client. It supports posting updates, retrieving information, and excellent integration with the Unix shell scripting environment via piping and well-formatted output.

bti allows you to send twitter messages right from the command line. It works with both twitter.com and identi.ca. To use this program install the Ubuntu package with the same name (sudo apt-get install bti).

Since I’ve started using Twitter, I’ve been on the hunt for a command line version, so I don’t need to start up a browser or send an SMS on my phone. As I found out, it’s pretty darn easy to Twitter from the command line.
