PCLinuxOS had temporarily lost its lead in PHR on Distrowatch to Ubuntu, after release of Gutsy Gibbon, but now has regained it.

Sun finally set in the English empire; wind of change is blowing hard and the inevitable has happened. A non-corporate backed distribution, PCLinuxOS, has displaced the mighty Ubuntu as the top ranked distribution on 3 months page hit ranking at distrowatch.

I was very excited about this release of PCLOS and have been waiting for it to hit for a while now. PCLinuxOS (PCLOS for short) was my second Linux distro I ever used and I really liked it.

I used to be an avid PCLOS user. 2007 to 2008 I swore by it. It was THE distro for installing on PC’s. It supported codecs out of the box, worked when Ubuntu would not, and was quicker. I decided to take a look at the newest release of PCLOS this week.

I am one of Linux enthusiast like you people, and have used almost all major Linux distros in past.Currently I triple boot Windows XP/Ubuntu Feisty /PCLinuxOS 2007.I am very impressed with PCLOS 2k7, even more than i was with Ubuntu. So i though why not write something which may help other people….

I’ve been using Ubuntu (or a derivative) for two years now. But then I noticed the new cool kid: PCLinuxOS. It naturally runs KDE, as opposed to being a derivative like Kubuntu. But then I started to notice PCLOS falls short in some areas where Kubuntu shines. So how does it all break down?
