Good Ubuntu repacement

For those who have become weary of Ubuntu and its dreadful Unity desktop, LMDE makes a good drop-in replacement.

There's still the couple of obligatory Mono-based apps that require deletion at first sight, but I've found both the 32 bit, and 64 bit, versions make very satisfactory everyday productivity work-horses.

Comes with proprietary software

Like the flash plugin and rar and the Linux kernel. I can understand the need for firmware (so you don't need to buy new hardware) but nothing else. I wish the mint people would care more about freedom.

I'm in complete agreement about the mono apps.
