It's not a whole week, but it is packed with activity. Ubuntu Developer Week is a series of online workshops where you can learn about different packaging techniques, find out more about different development teams, check out the efforts of the world-wide Development Community, participate in open Q&A sessions with Ubuntu developers, and much more.

The Ubuntu Developer Summit (UDS-L) in Dallas TX is setting the switches for the upcoming Ubuntu LTS version, Lucid Lynx. One loser is Gimp: the image manipulator should disappear from the CD.

I spent last week at the Ubuntu Developer Summit in Belgium, where we kicked off the 10.10 development cycle. Due to our time-boxed release cycle, not everything discussed here will necessarily appear in Ubuntu 10.10, but this should provide a reasonable overview of the direction we're taking.

The OMG!Ubuntu blog reports on the decision, however preliminary, at the Ubuntu Developer Summit in Dallas to remove the GIMP image editor from the 10.04 Lucid LTS release of the wildly popular Linux distribution.
