GNOME Software is a Fedora project, so I don’t think it is available on any other distribution at this stage. It’s definitely not available on pre-release editions of Ubuntu GNOME 13.10. Here are some screen shot of it, which I took from a test installation of Fedora 20 alpha.

Canonical has released the first alpha of Ubuntu 10.10, code named "Maverick Meerkat". This first development milestone features the 2.6.34 Linux kernel, GNOME 2.31 and a number of package updates

The first alpha of Fedora 16 was released yesterday (August 23, 2011). As you might expect, this is buggy, really buggy. While bug hunting is in progress, here are a few screenshots from the KDE and GNOME editions.

Ubuntu 8.10 Alpha 6 has been released as the final alpha build for Intrepid Ibex. This release ships with the latest GNOME 2.24 and Linux 2.6.27 bits along with X Server 1.5.0. Ubuntu 8.10 Alpha 6 also supports Samba 3.2 with clustered file server support, encrypted network transport, IPv6 support, and better integration with recent versions of Microsoft Windows clients and servers.

Fathers Day, and the end of my Gnome-Shell series. I still find it surreal to log into a session running Gnome-Shell and see a desktop devoid of familiar features. Gnome-Shell is the new direction Gnome is going for release 3, and Ubuntu seems set on following suit. Will this be a smart move?

Kicking off the 2008.1 development cycle in earnest, the first alpha is here. This alpha features X.Org 7.3, KDE 3.5.8, KDE 4.0 RC2 (in /contrib), GNOME 2.21, kernel 2.6.24, OpenOffice.org 2.3, new NVIDIA and ATI proprietary drivers, PulseAudio by default and more. During the development of Ubuntu 9.10 I got used to running the development version on my netbook. I like installing updates every few days to see new improvements be added (and don’t depend on my netbook to get work done), so I installed Ubuntu 10.04 "Lucid Lynx" Alpha 1.

The Ubuntu developers are moving very quickly to bring you the absolute latest and greatest software the Open Source Community has to offer. Hardy Heron Alpha 4 is the fourth alpha release of Ubuntu 8.04, and with this new alpha release comes a whole host of excellent new features.
