GCompris is a fantastic educational program aimed at children. I installed it for a family some time ago, and found myself getting caught up in it as I showed them how it worked. I caught up with the lead developer, Bruno Coudoin, to ask him a few questions about the widely-used GCompris project.

GCompris is a excellent educational software suite for children aged 2 to 10. Most of the activities are game orientated educational. GCompris offers more than 100 activities in differentclassifications like classified into mathematics, puzzles, computer discovery, amusement activities,strategy games, experimental activities and reading activities. Gcompris is available in more than 40 Languages.

After two years of work, the GCompris development team is happy to share with you the release of the version 9.0. GCompris is almost 10 years old and it required some deep code restructuring. This release brings many mandatory changes to make it easier to enhance, maintain and distribute.

Today, I'm going to discuss the Gcompris education suite. Gcompris is meant for younger children from 2 to 10 years old, though it seems to focus on the younger part of this range.
