Change for changes sake!
I've got a Kogan Agora netbook, that originally came with some cockamamie Google OS with these buttons shifted to the left for no discernable reason.
It annoyed the tripe out of me before I replaced it with Ubuntu Remix. Now Ubuntu are intent on making the same witless change.
This is really M$-level stupidity! The KDE4 mentality lives on!

Microsoft has millions upon millions of [dollars/pounds/other currency]. Being evil is not the same thing as being stupid.

Just can't see the sense in this one.
I can understand this being decent on Ubuntu Netbook Edition...but gee whiz. On a desktop? That's got to be the dumbest usability concept I've seen yet.
What about some of the actually good mockups that have come out of this, such as Zeitgeist integration into Metacity? Heaven forbid Canonical actually go with a good design.
