Up until recently, I had not really played around with mouse cursor themes at all. I thought it was like Windows in the old days, where the most you could get was a different color, perhaps a cursor providing a 3D "illusion" Look&Feel to it. I couldn't have been more wrong.
The author of the ZgegBlog posted some really nice themes, but unfortunately the instructions are French-only - so here I’ve provided an English set of instruction on how to get them.
I've downloaded some great themes for Firefox. Unfortunately not all of them works the way they should. The most common problem is disappearing menu text when mouse pointer hover above it.
You see not themes are made for specific edition and version of Firefox. Not all Firefox created equally I suppose. So here's 3 (for now) Firefox themes that I love to use (tested on Linux Firefox 3.0.6)

Here is a nice collection of themes for Gnome and ubuntu for September 2009, most of these themes are just updated in this month or just published, so you will find themes that you see for the first time.
