Conky is one of my favorite applications for all of my Linux distros. It is a light-weight system monitor (according to the project page) that can monitor many different aspects of your computer. You choose what to monitor and you choose where the monitor is displayed on your desktop through use of a configuration file - .conkyrc.

I use conky from two years ago ... Really useful, customizable, nice tool! It's a good idea to try it. ;-)

It says "debian" somehwere on that page. Does that mean its not available on Gentoo?

Almost all applications written for Linux work on all distributions. There may not be a prepared package, but it can work.

Gentoo has preety much every package Debian has...

DebADay.debian.net is a site promoting good but "unknown" software...
