It looks as though the people over at Mozilla Foundation are more than a little fed up with the fact that their software, no matter how it changes, has of late been perceived as slow, especially at start up.

Speed is not that important
Speed isn't all that important, so long as web pages load within some reasonable amount of time. Cognition only operates in the realm of about half a second, so anything faster than that will be considered instantaneous to most observers.
More important to me is overall functionality. For the present I'm sticking with Firefox, since it has a better range of addons.
