How a Microsoft veteran learned to love Linux, and why it matters

http://www.techflash.com

I first met Bill Gates at the age of twenty. He stood in the yard of his Washington lakefront home, Diet Coke in hand, a tastefully small ketchup stain on his shirt, which no one had the courage to point out, and answered our questions, in-turn, like a savant.

Linux for Anyone?

http://fullmetalgerbil.com

Over the past couple of months or so I’ve mentioned how Slackware isn’t exactly beginner-prohibitive. I still believe that, and going even further I’ll say that basically anyone can run Linux using a good solid starter distribution like Ubuntu, Mint or Zenwalk (or any number of others actually, or even PCBSD).

My take on the Mono/C# debate

http://drfav.wordpress.com

I’m f*cking tired of hearing random people screaming out why mono is cool or not. These kind of people don’t even know what coding is about, or they just learned Java or C# at university and they’re like “oh shit, I can code!!”. STOP THAT.

FSFE Fellowship Interview with Smári McCarthy

http://fellowship.fsfe.org

Smári McCarthy is a thoughtful anarchist and practical chaos technician - with a deep interest in Free Software and democracy. Currently serving as project manager for the Icelandic Innovation Center, Smári works on digital fabrication and peer-to-peer education, while spending his spare time breaking the fundamental assumptions of how we organise society. I sat down for an interesting interview with Smári, in which he explained his projects and how they can contribute towards a more sustainable world.

Digg-ing Deeper for Linux News and Links

Apparently there’s some sort of conspiracy keeping Linux-related links off the front page of the popular link-sharing site Digg.com — or at least that’s what a recent Computerworld editorial would have you believe.

Why free software shouldn't depend on Mono or C#

http://www.fsf.org

by Richard M. Stallman
Debian's decision to include Mono in the default installation, for the sake of Tomboy which is an application written in C#, leads the community in a risky direction. It is dangerous to depend on C#, so we need to discourage its use.
