Not only did Windows Vista - billed by Microsoft as its biggest operating system for 10 years - fail to distinguish Microsoft's latest fiscal year from previous, non-Windows-Vista years, but Microsoft also missed its own expectations by several million dollars.

We like to install things. Lots of things. The net effect on the average Linux installation is that things will eventually start to break. It might not be in the first six months, or even the first year, but there will be a point when things start to fail.

After Vista SP1, the worst that will happen is a warning notice that forces a 15-second delay at login, and a reminder every hour on the hour to activate.
Gates famously stated in the past that if people pirated an OS he would prefer it to be Windows. Microsoft forgot this for a while, but there is a glimmer of a re awakening. Don't be fooled by the bad product that is Vista. There is a long way to go before Microsoft runs out of money!

What a coup Microsoft has pulled off. After getting millions of people all over the world to shell out for the sugar-frosted turd that was Windows Vista, here we are three years later at the Windows 7 launch, and Microsoft has people practically falling over themselves to pay more money so they don’t have to use Vista any more.

As I go through the daily grind on my trusty Thinkpad, I once in a while notice quirks in Linux Mint / Ubuntu that makes me miss certain small but important conveniences from Windows Vista. I’ve been taking notes, and here’s my list.

IT LOOKS like the Mac OS-X and Linux operating system have failed to do any damage to Microsoft Windows, despite the Vista fiasco.
