Basically, Novell and Red Hat won’t be trying to get consumer desktop market share, focusing instead only on the ‘enterprise’ desktop market; Fedora and openSUSE thus appear to be relegated to ‘hobbyist OS’ level. Ubuntu is now THE distro of choice for home use, with no major competitors, but I think we’ve known that for some time:

But... Ubuntu for home use has about as much support as Redhat/Fedora, openSused/SLED
I also find that Ubuntu makes more headlines but you'll find many people that switched to linux in the late 90s until before ubuntu made waves, use non-ubuntu distro's, they just don't see the need to make a blog about installing every application on their system b/c they figure most linux users such as themselves can figure it out.
