Presenting the free software model as a way to provide viable and sustainable access to new information technologies while encouraging the economic and social development of a region is part of the goals of III ENSL, the Northeast Free Software Meeting and the Fourth Bahia Free Software Festival, happening on May 29-30 at the campus of Bahia State University (UNEB) in Salvador, Bahia’s capital.

The organizers of the 2010 SouthEast LinuxFest (SELF) have announced new speakers for the second annual event, to be held June 11-13 in Spartanburg, South Carolina. Some 30 speakers have been announced for the Ubuntu-heavy show, including Jon "Maddog" Hall, Wietse Zweitze Venema, and Keith Bergelt.

The tenth annual Ohio LinuxFest will be held on September 28-30, 2012 at the Greater Columbus Convention Center in downtown Columbus, Ohio. Hosting authoritative speakers and a large expo, the Ohio LinuxFest welcomes all Free and Open Source Software professionals, enthusiasts, and everyone interested in learning more about Free and Open Source Software.

The 2010 Ohio LinuxFest is held in the Greater Columbus Convention Center in Columbus, Ohio, This conference boasts speakers well known and informative, a vendor expo, tutorials, a new medical track and lots more. As always, basic registration is FREE!

2007 has been an exemplary year for software freedom, which makes the keynote speakers selected for Ohio LinuxFest 2007 particularly fitting. The Ohio LinuxFest organizers are proud to announce that Max Spevack and Bradley Kuhn will be keynoting this year.

Only 16 days remain until June 13th, the date SouthEast LinuxFest makes its debut in Clemson, South Carolina. The one-day conference features an impressive list of speakers.

Whitehouse.gov has a petition to advocate and gradually replace in US schools software with restrictive licensing in favor of open source alternatives with GPL type licenses. In as much as possible we should have our students using software that complies with the definition of free software as defined by the Free Software Foundation.
