The Scottish Open Source Awards opens for nominations and entries on 1st August 2007 at 9AM. The awards are open to business, government, education, not-for-profit, charities and students, who contribute to or use Open Source Software or services.

At OSCON 2009 in San Jose, California, Google announced the winners of this years Google O'Reilly Open Source Awards. The awards have been presented each year since 2005 to individuals for their "dedication, innovation, leadership and outstanding contribution to open source".

Nominations are open for the third annual Sourceforge.net Community Choice Awards, with winners to be announced at OSCON 2008 in July. Nominations are accepted for all open source projects, not just SourceForge.net-based projects, and the categories include the intriguing "Most likely to get users sued."

Last month, when the National Center for Open Source and Education announced this year's FOSS and K-12 Education Awards, three of the five awards were given for software designed for the Linux Terminal Service Project (LTSP).
