Today the Gran Canaria Desktop Summit has started, bringing KDE and Gnome developers together in the biggest conference of its type. It is situated on the beautiful Atlantic island of Gran Canaria and housed in the spectacular Albert Kraus Auditorium which dominates the skyline of Las Palmas, capital of Gran Canaria.

This year's Gran Canaria Desktop Summit represented the first time the GNOME and KDE communities have co-located their annual conferences in the same location. 852 free software advocates from 46 countries gathered together last month to discuss and enhance the free desktop experience at the first ever Gran Canaria Desktop Summit.

The KDE team are to work closer with Kwin developers to reinforce the integration of the KDE window manager into the project. The announcement was made at the end of the joint Gnome and KDE Gran Canaria Desktop Summit that came to a close July 11.

1. If you have send a mail to invite Richard Stallman for an International Conference in FreeSoftware and Free Society. My question is that your attached invitation card is made in MICROSOFT WORD ( .doc File) , How will he react????

Stallman, founder and president of the Free Software Foundation, spoke at the International Conference on Communication and Technologies in Havana about what he strongly believes are the merits of non-proprietary software. I recently learned directly from Stallman what that experience was like.

KDE kindly invited me to give a talk at Akademy 2009, part of the Gran Canaria Desktop Summit running this week.
