Intel has joined the Open Source Automation Development Lab (OSADL). The processor manufacturer wants to strengthen its presence in embedded systems with it's new processors.

The Open Source Automation Development Lab (OSADL) invites participants to the Real-Time Linux Foundation Workshop from September 28 through 30 in Dresden, Germany. Well-known names such as Jonathan Corbet will be present.

The Linux Foundation today announced that LG Electronics is its newest member. LG will participate in the Linux Foundation’s events and community development efforts.

Not too long ago, Marc Fleury went public with his newest venture, an open source home automation "project" (not yet officially a company) called OpenRemote. Marc describes it as "an open community in the Home Automation or Domotics space", that "promote[s] open standards, open collaboration, and open implementations in the field."

The Open Source Automation Development Lab (OSADL) announced the release of the "Latest Stable" Linux mainline real-time kernel, based on Linux 2.6.31. The "PREEMPT RT"-based release will be demonstrated on Mar. 2-4 at Embedded World 2010 in Nuremberg, Germany, which offers a number of sessions on Linux and Android development.

Ltd serves 45 of the world's top 50 telecom operators and is known for its mobile communications products, including mobile phones, as well as USB and Wireless 3G modems.

Nokia announced a home automation system based on the open source OpenWrt Linux distribution. Due in late 2009, the Z-wave wireless radio-equipped Nokia Home Control Center will let users remotely control security, automation, and energy management applications via their mobile phones, says Nokia.
