One of the most common conversations when people discuss Linux is the freedom it brings. Talk of free as in beer, free as in creative expression, free as in legal widespread distribution, modification, and dissemination. These are all important and great conversations to have. One thing that doesn't get discussed a lot though, when talking about Linux is community.

The Linux Kernel project is like
The Linux Kernel project is like an industrial factory inside of a Free Software village.
The boss of this factory is an authoritarian and his loyalty to the values of the village are divided.
He serves outside interests who don't value freedom, and he keeps criticizing the "Papa Smurf" of the Free Software village.
Papa Smurf seeks to protect the freedom of his village from Gargamel, the dictator of an authoritarian neighboring state.
Some people are beginning to wonder of the guy who runs the Linux Kernel factory is working for Gargamel or for Pappa Smurf.
