Linux Journal's annual Readers' Choice Awards take the pulse of the Linux community, allowing readers to choose their favorites in a number of categories.

SourceForge.net is proud to present our 2008 Community Choice Awards. This is the third year of our awards program, and we think it's going to be the best yet. Here's why:

The winners of the fourth annual SourceForge Community Choice Awards were announced at this years OSCON. Over 47,000 open source projects were nominated for this years Community Choice Awards and 85 finalists were selected across twelve categories.

KDE won the Linux New Media Readers Choice Award 2014 (link to German language Linux Magazine) for the best Linux Desktop Environment at CeBIT last week. 46% of the readers of Linux New Media's global publications voted for KDE. Runner-ups were GNOME with 18% and XFCE with 13%. Other awards went to CyanogenMod, Raspberry Pi, Bitcoin, Puppet, Tor and Git.

This was a "you had to be there" event. We captured all the award presentations and some of the byplay, but most of the fun took place off-camera, and maybe a "What happens at the Community Choice Awards stays at the CCA" attitude is better than trying to show you all the game-playing, drinking, eating, drinking, tattooing, drinking, socializing, and drinking that went on.
