Hey guys! The Libregamewiki(which I run), the Free gaming encyclopedia are looking for contributors for the wiki project. The wiki launched a few weeks ago and it need your help! So far, we have over 100 articles, 1,400 edits and we're not even close to reaching Wikipedia standard. Plus we have only 10 registered users!
The vast majority of our contents are original. We didn't copy from wikipedia or anything like that.
It is an attempt to comprehensively document the world of Free gaming. In the process, we're collecting informations that nobody collect before like the biographies of game hackers who make the games we know and love like David White of Battle for Wesnoth. There are also contests(such as Pyweek) and games that never got their own article in wikipedia or shortly delete afterward.
Wikipedia won't do that, because they have this notablity standard and the strong unwillingness to document obscure games.
In the spirit of Freedom, we dual licensed our contents under the Creative Common Attribution and GNU FDL.
Our goal is to become the comprehensive resource on Free gaming and to beat Wikipedia. We're getting there, slowly.
But if you guys help us by contributing your Free gaming knowledge, surely we can help make libregamewiki an extremely good resource for all things Free games.
If you're going to contribute, please read our article policy. They're important so that you don't waste time creating contents that does not fit the wiki.
Here are a few tips:
1. Make sure that the game you're creating an article about are properly licensed under a Free content licenses not one of these non-free licenses such as CC NC-BY-SA. More details are in the article policy page!
2. If you have questions, ask us.
3. Be bold! We allow editing on pretty much everything except the front page(for obvious reason)
Well, that's it folk! I hope that my presentation is convincing enough to encourage you FSDaily folks to join in!
Happy hacking!

The wiki really needs some new
The wiki really needs some new flesh, as me and kiba are currently the main 'designers/authors' which means that there is an annoyinly monotone in style and coverage..
We also could learn a lot from 'foregin' contributions.

I object to the free media policy
I object to the free media policy of the site. I am a free software puritan but I don't understand why the media must be free. Such a policy would exculde games such Quake3 or Planeshift.

non-free media subjects one to
non-free media subjects one to restrictions, it's pretty simple

The GPL also subjects one to restrictions.
The GPL also subjects one to restrictions. Be more specific with your usage of 'restrictions'. Do you mean that all users should have the right to (re)distribute the media? Do you mean that users should have the right to modify and subsequently publish modifications? Do you mean that users should have the right to leech the game media from the net at no cost?

The GPL has restrictions, but restrictions
The GPL has restrictions, but restrictions towards the positive. You're able to modify and redistribute and even re-sell what you have (re)created under certain circumstances. "Free" software that's released such as Quake3, the last time I checked, has a zillion and one copyrights and license restrictions attached to it which severely restricts the idea of "free" as in freedom, which is what they want, not necessarily "free as in beer".

More specifically, i think users
More specifically, i think users should have the same rights for media as they do for software, especially in the case where the two intersect (such as a game)

Quake 1, 2 and 3 are all free software.
Quake 1, 2 and 3 are all free software. The media that these Quake games use are not really free. I demand only free software and I also find non-free media to be acceptable. This is because media doesn't deprive us, the user, of the right to control our own computer. Software is a different beast. Without the right to study and modify software, the user is deprived of their right to control their own hardware.

I see no reason to include them.
I see no reason to include them. I don't want them on the wiki in the first places.
There are really no excuses for them to not be Free content too. If they can be Free software, I am sure that they can be Free content too.
Free medias are way more socially preferred. The expression and creations of new ideas shouldn't be restricted because of a creator's whim. Everybody ripped off everybody else anyway.
