In an effort to bridge the gap between users and developers, the KDE Community Forums have launched a new initiative to coordinate feature requests. A new "Brainstorm" section has been created.

The new and much improved version of Ubuntu Brainstorm, Ubuntu's site for receiving ideas from users and allowing other users to vote on those ideas, was launched today.

Today a new feedback site is launched at brainstorm.ubuntu.com that will make it easier for users of Ubuntu to suggests ideas for improvements. Voting makes it clear which ideas have the most support in the user community and should be given priority. We have of course been inspired by the IdeaStorm site from our good friends at Dell but modified the concept to fit our needs.

Ubuntu Brainstorm allows you to view the most popular ideas ever, in the last 6 months, in the last 30 days, in the last week, and in the past 24 hours. Since the new version of Brainstorm appeared, the default has been to view the most popular ideas in the last 30 days. This causes two major problems...

As we have had the KDE Brainstorm running for almost a month, reaching its 700th idea today. 27 pages of well discussed ideas that are voted upon by users.

Brilliant Brainstorms is a (usually) weekly summary of some of the best/most interesting brainstorms from the Ubuntu Brainstorm site as well as various other Brainstorm-style sites: warning users of poor performance of Live CDs; making Ubuntu Brainstorm work in IE; take advantage of the new notification system for notes; and assigning priorities to WiFi networks.

Maybe you’ve already seen three Brainstorm buttons in the sidebar at the left, but maybe not, when you’re reading my blog using another tool. They’re from my three latest ideas I placed at Brainstorm and I thought that they deserved a little bit more attention. Here they come:

Hello, and welcome to the first “issue” of the KDE Brainstorm monthly digest. There are quite a number of ideas being posted on the KDE Brainstorm, and it would be nice to know how the initiative is faring.

The GIMP UI team had a meeting and discussed the first 25 posts of the brainstorm, from our hello world up to filters as chains…
