The KDE community is proud to announce the location of next year's Akademy: Tampere, Finland. Akademy is the yearly world conference held by the KDE community to celebrate the Free Software desktop and work towards the future of KDE.

The schedule has been posted for BSDCan, a technical BSD conference held in Ottawa, Canada. This year it is on 17-18 May 2013 (Fri/Sat) at University of Ottawa. It will be preceded by two days of Tutorials on 15-16 May 2013 (Wed/Thu).

In July 2013, Akademy — the KDE community summit — will host the Qt Contributor Summit (QtCS) in Bilbao, Spain. QtCS is THE gathering of the Qt Project contributor community. It will take place July 15th and 16th in the middle of the KDE Akademy conference week (13-19 July). By co-hosting, KDE and the Qt Project will increase their existing collaboration even further.

KDE Spain is organizing Akademy-es 2011, the annual meeting of KDE users and contributors in Barcelona, Spain from May 20th through May 22nd. Akademy-es is an important event in the KDE calendar. Attendance and the technical quality of papers have increased significantly during each of the previous events.

During the final days of the Gran Canaria Desktop Summit, the fourth edition of Akademy-es was held in the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. Akademy-es is the sister of Akademy aimed at Spanish speakers.

The 2013 lineup includes 15 Linux events worldwide and 13 co-located Linux training opportunities, illustrating global demand for technical Linux content, knowledge and collaboration.

Now that Akademy 2012 is behind us and life is getting back to normal, we can now share videos and slides from the conference talks with those who weren't there. All available videos and slides are linked to from the Akademy Program.

The organizing team of Akademy 2010 is looking for sponsors to help make the annual world summit of the KDE community a success. Akademy 2010 will take place in Tampere, Finland from July 3rd to July 10th and is organized by KDE e.V. and COSS, the Finnish Centre for Open Source Solutions.
