A company that was just awarded more than $140 million from Microsoft in a patent-infringement suit has sued the software giant again, this time for alleged infringements in Windows Vista and Office 2007.

One annoying misfeature of Gnome is the way that they have tried to foul up X Windows cut and paste. For those who don’t know, X Windows cut and paste is much quicker and simpler than Microsoft Windows cut and paste. Select by dragging with the left mouse button, and paste by pressing the middle mouse button (this is the scroll wheel button on modern mice)

The alarm has rung several times before and each time the snooze button was pressed. This time, just recently, the alarm has rung with yet another compromised download resulting in another Linux trojan back door. The time has come for us to stop hitting that snooze button.

I'm not pressing the panic button. I think millions of people remain committed to Ubuntu Linux. But recent events - involving Google Chrome OS, Google Android and Moblin - make me wonder if Ubuntu faces far more competition than Canonical anticipated.

By the time Ubuntu 10.04 LTS rolls around next April, Canonical is interested in seeing Ubuntu boot on an Intel Atom netbook (specifically the Dell Mini 9) in less than ten seconds. These incredibly fast boot time goals even led Canonical to decide against investing more time in enhancing the boot experience with Red Hat's Plymouth.

One of the beautiful features that really impressed me is the possibility to increase or decrease how the time passes. For example, pressing Shift++ (Shift and +) will increase the time, and thus making the speed look like it has doubled or tripled. To go back to normal time, just press the - (minus) key. The feeling is amazing!
