We all keep talking about how Linux is more secure than Windows, how it provides the same desktop experience for no cost, how it can be run on very old machines, how Tux bombards XP's green pasture blah blah blah...but if people are to use Linux, they should also get the same “tiny tweaks” that they enjoy in Windows / Mac.

My marketing director's twitteration induced me to click on a link to a ZDNet article which asserted that Linux desktops, have missed the boat; Good though they are, blah. The article was fine, but what is this obsession with the GUI?

Microsoft’s annual geek gathering, TechEd, is not the place you’d expect to hear words like “Linux” or “open source” - at least not without a good punchline.

How many times have people accused me of “Microsoft Hater”, “Linux Zealot”, “Linux Unwashed”? Its easy to dismiss a point of view with a single insult and the practice has been going on for years.

It seems as if most people are for OpenSource but against any other form of distribution/development. For example, Microsoft maintains ownership of the software that they sell on store shelves. No one owns a copy of Windows except for Microsoft.

I know what most people must be thinking- this is just another crazy GNU/Linux zealot. Well, I’m not. Let me set things straight. This isn’t about GNU/Linux vs Linux, this isn’t about the Democratic National Convention being anti-GNU/Linux or being bought by Microsoft. No.

Lately, a lot of talk has been coming out of Europe. The talk I am referring to concerns an anti-trust case against Microsoft for bundling a web browser they make with an operating system they make. The claim is that Microsoft has made competition in the web browser market difficult because Internet Explorer is included with Microsoft's Windows (a computer operating system).
