There is a certain misconception which suggests that open source becomes the hostage of companies. It is, to a large degree, a self-serving hypothesis whose purpose is perhaps to demoralise volunteer contributors.

This is a funny article.
"Open Source" was always about business, not about freedom. "Open Source" gives startups an edge against entrenched proprietary companies.
Commercialization is not a problem for "open source" because "open source" was explicitly about commercializing the fruits of the free software movements from its inception.
Commercialization is a problem for the free software movement because "open source" leaders who don't think about user freedom are leading people astray.
It is possible to have commercial success without compromising user freedom, but currently, the Linux kernel project is allowing Tivo to compromise user freedoms because Linus Torvalds won't upgrade the license to GPLv3.
