This past month has seen a flurry activity from a number of players in the Linux desktop space. Red Hat, Suse, Ubuntu, Dell, Lenovo and even Intel white box system builders are getting into the act. Is the year of the Linux desktop finally upon us or is this just another flare up generated by the Linuxworld conference in San Francisco?

For me at least, it was in 1993.
For me at least, it was in 1993. But when it really boomed I think was 1998. And in 2007, that's when there was no question about it; GNU/Linux has now become mainstream.

For me, it is this year when sister finally purchase DSL, allowing me to use linux to the fullest capability.
Now, I have a dell system that come with ubuntu installed. I asked my sister to vote with her dollars, and she did!

Not this year. If you are not willing
Not this year. If you are not willing to make the right investment (in terms of money to pay for professionals for help; or time and effort to learn how to use it) there will never be a year of the desktop.
